Clubs To Earn N1m For Super Four Show

Title sponsor of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL), Globacom Nigeria Limited, has voted the sum of N1 million each for the four clubs billed to compete in the Super Four in Ilorin as appearance fee.
Representative of the Premier League sponsor, Harry Iwuala, told naijaligue.blogspot.com that the country’s second national carrier in the telecommunications industry has earmarked the sum of N9 million for the weeklong pre-season tournament scheduled to kick off on Monday at the Ilorin Township Stadium.
He gave a breakdown for the expenditure of the sum as N1 million each as participation fee for the four clubs, while the remaining N5 million has been set aside as cash money.
The winner of the Super Four is expected to get N3 million while the runner-up would earn N1.5 million for its effort and the sum of N500,000 would go to the third-place finisher.
“Globacom has put aside the sum of N9 million for the Super Four. The four clubs taking part would receive N1 million each as appearance fee in the competition. That is N4 million for the clubs. The remaining N5 million would be set aside as prize money and the winner would get N3 million while the runner-up and the team that finishes third would get N1.5 million and N500,000 respectively,” he said.
The injection of the cash into the Super Four is meant to serve as a way of encouraging the clubs and others participating in the Premier League to strive to reach the pre-season tournament by virtue of their performance during the regular season.
