Police Arrests Dolphin’s Trio

Three regular players of Globacom Premier League side, Dolphin Football Club, were arrested by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Naijaligue.blogspot.com understands.
Though the club officials refused to mention the names of the players, Naijaligue.blogspot.com learnt from an inside source at the club that the players are Captain Ejindu, Jonah Abutu and Sunday Mba.
The club’s spokesman, China Acheru, in an email confirmed the arrest of three players but did not include their names in the statement he sent to Naijaligue.blogspot.com.
He explained that the players had left the club’s camp at Elekahia to eat at an eatery only to be picked up the police at the GRA axis in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
“The players who drove out of the camp at night to eat were picked up by the police men around the GRA axis in Port Harcourt on Tuesday. They had gone to eat at a popular eatery, pepperoni and were arrested on their way out. The boys have been dumped in a cell in Port Harcourt and all entreaties made by the management of the club to have them released have fallen on deaf ears,” the statement from Acheru read.
However, the Dolphin FC’s media officer disclosed that the players would miss the trip to Kaduna, where it would face Ranchers Bees in a Week Eight Premier League game.
“According to the police at the SARS office at Borokiri, the men who made the arrest are not around and so the boys cannot be released. The office could not even tell the crime they committed. It is just sad that the police can arrest three professional footballers because they are making random arrests and cannot be convinced when the management of the club they play for have given word that they are indeed professional footballers,” Acheru said.
But Naijaligue.blogspot.com was informed that the three players have since been released and have travelled with the club’s contingent to Kaduna for this weekend’s game in the Premier League.
