Warri Wolves Topples Enyimba

The leadership of the Premier League switched hands after Wednesday’s rescheduled games after Warri Wolves defeated Heartland Football Club at the Oleh Township Stadium in Isoko, Delta State by 3-2.
Due to the curfew in Oleh, the match kicked off at 3.00 pm Nigerian time and it was the visitor, Heartland FC, that shot into the lead in the third minute through Bill Sheriff.
In the 19th minute, Wolves’ skipper, Goodluck Onamado, put his side on level terms before Gift Atulewa netted his third goal of the season in the 38th minute to put Wolves in front for the first time in the game.
However, 11 minutes before the hour-mark, former Enyimba midfielder, Kingsley Elvis, stamped home Heartland FC’s equalizer to the disappointment of Warri Wolves.
But 16 minutes to regulation time, Eddy Ogude, who has had a hand in almost all of Wolves’ triumphs in this campaign, stole the show by netting the winner leaving the travelling contingent of Heartland FC forlorn.
In related development, players of the Warri Wolves were rewarded for defeating Heartland FC in a mid-week game by 3-2.
Chairman of the Delta Sports Commission, Amaju Pinnick, made good his promise of N1 million to the team and the players were also paid 20 per cent of their outstanding signing-on fees as well as their match bonuses and salaries.
