Nigeria Premier League (NPL) side, Plateau United, could engage the services of no less than 20 players for the 2010/2011 campaign billed to kick off on October 23.
SuperSport.com understands that 18 players from the team that helped the side pick a promotion ticket from the National Division I League have been retained.
Plateau United are on the verge of signing two goalkeepers, Abdul Isa and Abayomi Olorunda from Gombe United and Sharks Football Club respectively.
Others are former Enyimba man, Ajibade Omolade, Sale Mohammed (from Mighty Jets), Obinna Nwaokolo (from Sunshine Stars), Dimka Monaya (from Gombe United), Ahmed Mohammed (formerly of Royal Amazulu, South Africa), Peter Gyang (from Wikki Tourists), Edward Bewarang (from Gombe United) and Dubem Awaziem (from Mighty Jets).
The list of players likely to seal deals at Plateau United before the start of the season is completed with Bayelsa United midfielder, Cele George, Bitrus Solomon (former Dolphin FC), George Moses (from UNICEM Rovers), Tochukwu Esom (from Anambra Pillars), Waziri Kabiru (from Enyimba), Uche Illo (from Mighty Jets), Emma Odafe (from First Bank FC), Ejike Ebekwe (from Lobi Stars), Eze Nwabike (from Sharks FC) and Stanley Erudge (Anambra Pillars).
Spokesman of the club, Monday Goteng, said the players are yet to be signed by Plateau United but hopes that their contracts would be ratified before the start of the season.
“There are no contracts for the players yet. The club management wants to sign them and hopefully that will be done before the season kicks off,” he told SuperSport.com.
