Kwara United head coach, Kadiri Ikhana, has declared that he will continue to show belief in the young players in his squad as the season progresses.
The former African Coach of the Year made it clear that the youngsters signed by the club in the off-season will continue to get play-time if they put up impressive performance week in, week out.
“We have a number of young players in this team that we signed before the start of the season. So far I am impressed with their performance and I must tell you that I have faith in their ability,” said Ikhana.
The former coach of Enyimba and Kano Pillars singled out Anthony Okemiri as one of the youngster that has wormed his way into his heart.
“He has settled into the team very quickly. He has also shown that he can adapt to the tough style of the league. But he is not the only young player in our team that has adapted well, because we have others who are also doing well,” said Ikhana.
Apart from the young Okemiri, whose elder brother, Ogbonnaya plays at left-back, in the side, Ikhana also grabbed the services of Chinedu Ajanah, Gbenga Arokoyo, Kelvin Kpakor and Barnabas Imenger, all from the Kwara Football Academy.
Also, Yemi Olarewaju was signed from Great Fortune Academy in the off-season and Ikhana explained that these players are in the team to provide competition and complement the older and experienced players.
