Kano Pillars batter Plateau Utd 5 – 1

Former MTN Nigeria Premier League (NPL) champions, Kano Pillars, went on a goal-scoring spree against hapless Plateau United with a 5 – 1 win at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on Thursday.
Gambo Mohammed got a brace on 17 and 90 minutes while the trio of Shehu Mohammed, Nasiru Ali and Sharif Isa all got one goal each to complete the rout of the returnee to the Nigerian topflight.
On 59 minutes, Solomon Bitrus’ strike ended up being a consolation for the struggling Jos-based club, which just returned to the elite division after more than five seasons in the lower division.
Head coach of Kano Pillars, Salisu Yusuf, told SuperSport.com that his men are just getting to the groove of scoring and hopes to build on the 5 – 1 thumping of Plateau United.
Yusuf also made it clear that the exit of Ahmed Musa has been put behind them, adding that it is now evident on the position that Kano Pillars occupy on the Premier League table.
Kano Pillars are third going into the yuletide break while Plateau United are now rooted at the foot of the table.
“We have not done badly since Ahmed Musa left. Kano Pillars is not a team of one man and we have shown that against Plateau United. But we want to keep this tempo going throughout the season.
“For me, we have overcome the issue of whether we have or do not have Ahmed Musa in our team. The players have responded well and that’s why we are third on the table now,” the former Lobi Stars’ coach said.
However, Plateau United gaffer, Ndubuisi Nduka, expressed disappointment with the outcome of the result.
“I’m just disappointed,” he told SuperSport.com.
Both clubs will face each other in the reverse fixture in the first week of the New Year when the Nigerian topflight resumes after the yuletide break.
