It will be big derby day in the southeastern town of Aba when Enyimba play host to Heartland Football Club live on SuperSport Nine from 3.50pm Nigerian time on Wednesday.
This will be the 15th clash between Enyimba and Heartland, two of the three biggest sides in the southeastern derby that includes Enugu Rangers, which completes this oriental tripod in that part of Nigeria.
Titleholders, Enyimba, go into this game on the World of Champions without any win in five previous head-to-head meetings in the topflight only against the Naze Millionaires since February 24, 2008.
But Enyimba head coach, Okey Emordi, believes that the Peoples Elephant are now in their elements since their away win in the playoff of the Orange Caf Champions League against Congo’s Michel de Ouenze.
Emordi told the World of Champions: “We are ready for this game. Things are beginning to look like the Enyimba of old. We are winning games now home and away in the league and even in the (Orange Caf) Champions League.
“Heartland will be added to that list of teams that we have defeated in our newfound form though this game has always proved to be a difficult one I must say.”
But captain of Heartland, Chinedu Efugh, says he is confident that he and his teammates can provide a stumbling block in this big day derby on SuperSport for the Peoples Elephant.
“We have respect for them but we don’t fear them. Heartland is also a big club in the country and it is good that this game will be live on television and it will only motivate us to give Enyimba a very good fight since they are champions of the league,” said the Heartland man.
And for the first time, the World of Champions will deliver a live studio chat for the Enyimba – Heartland game with Mozez Praiz as the anchorman alongside two guest analysts.
