Big guns romp to wins in NPL

Nigeria Premier League (NPL) title contenders, Dolphins, Enugu Rangers and Kano Pillars, won their games on Matchday 33.

The three teams all played at home with table-topping Rangers notching up the most comfortable win against ten-man Niger Tornadoes.

Efe Yarhere, Oghogho Oduokpe and Ifeanyi Ede got the goals for Okey Emordi's men to lift the Flying Antelopes to 55 points, as they remain in top spot.

Kano Pillars got a scare from ABS FC at the Sani Abacha Stadium but still closed the gap on Rangers to one point.

Gambo Mohammed and Mannir Ubale scored inside 30 minutes for Kano Pillars and ABS put up a fight in the business end of the game when their leading scorer, Abdulrahman Bashir scored on 53 minutes.

In Port Harcourt, champions, Dolphins had to endure facing a tough Warri Wolves.

But Abduljeleel Ajagun's goal on 82 minutes broke the hearts of the travelling contingent as Dolphins move into fourth spot on 51 points.

3SC downed Akwa United two-nil in Ibadan on a rainy evening with Moses Ogaga opening score and Mutiu Adegoke curling home a 30-yard free kick.

The Oluyole Warriors climbed into fifth position in the standings from their previous tenth spot and are now six points behind the leaders.

The live game on SuperSport 9 produced two goals as Kwara United made sure Sharks suffered their first loss in Ilorin this term in all competitions.

An exquisite chip over Sharks goalkeeper, Okiemute Odah by Barnabas Imenger Jnr for his first of two goals in the 55th minute and a simple tap in six minutes later took Kwara United's total points to 46.

In an early kick-off, Gombe United defeated struggling Ocean Boys 3-1 to climb into the top half.

The game between hosts, Rising Stars and Lobi Stars at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti was abandoned after 71 minutes.

Shedrack Francis' goal for Rising Stars separated both teams until Lobi allegedly left the pitch citing poor security inside the stadium.

Another title contender, Enyimba will play hosts to Cup holders, Heartland in the Southeast derby on Thursday.
