Enugu
Rangers will now feature in the playoff round of the Caf Confederation Cup
after losing to CRD do Libolo in the Caf Champions League on Saturday.
Rangers
lost 1-3 on the day at Estadio Municipal do Calulo after the first leg in Enugu
had ended goalless.
CRD
do Libolo proved a handful for Rangers and got the opener inside the first 15
minutes through Henry Camara before Dario Cardoso doubled the lead with 10
minutes before the break.
Nigeria
international, Sunday Mba, gave the Flying Antelopes a lifeline when he prodded
home just before the hour mark.
Mba
was making his debut for the Enugu club after a protracted transfer tussle
involving Rangers and Warri Wolves.
But
the Angolans put the game beyond their Nigerian counterparts when Cardoso
converted from the spot late on to hand the hosts a comfortable 3-1 win.
CRD
do Libolo progress into the group stage of the Caf Champions League while
Rangers now face a two-legged playoff in the Caf Confederation Cup.
Rangers
will know their opponents when the draws for the Caf Confederation Cup playoff
round hold on May 7.
The
Flying Antelopes have never played in the group stage of the Caf Champions League
since the African football body adopted the group format in 1997.
