New boys, Giwa FC shattered the bookmakers' prediction by winning on the road while Akwa United won in the top-of-the-table clash in Uyo to go clear by two points.
Sharks 2-0 Nasarawa United
After a goalless first half, Sharks pushed up a notch and Christian Pyagbara scored with his left foot off a fine cross from Chima Akas in the 55th minutes. Three minutes later Ifeanyi Inyam in a composed manner controlled Kelly Kester's pass before smashing it into the left bottom corner for the second goal.
Late in the game, Sharks captain, Odinga Odinga was sent off for a second bookable offence.
Warri Wolves 1-0 Rangers Int'l FC
Wolves continued their dominance over Ranger with a one-nil win. Gbolahan Salami converted from the spot in the 38th minute after Stanley Dimgba was felled in Rangers' box. That goal was enough for Wolves to claim the three points. Salami was to limp off the pitch after that goal, his fourth this season for new club.
Akwa United 1-0 Kano Pillars
The table-of-the-table clash had to be moved to Sunday after heavy rain stopped play on Saturday. When the game got underway on Sunday, Akwa United showed they wanted to remain top dogs and deservedly won 1-0.
Nnamso Edo scored the winner in the 60th minute. He first shot a direct free kick against the Pillars' wall and after few exchanges around Pillars' box, the ball fell kindly to him on the edge of the box and he curled it in past Theophilus Afelokhai. Akwa United are now two points clear at the top of the table.
FC Taraba 0-1 Giwa FC
Giwa FC have become only the third team to win away this season after Abia Warriors and Bayelsa United. Charles Okoro scored for the second consecutive match day as Giwa claimed four points out of six in their last two games against Dolphins and FC Taraba.
Okoro scored the only goal right at half time at FC Taraba and it was just enough for them to stun their hosts on Sunday.
Crown FC 1-0 Kaduna United
Bereaved Kaduna United could not shake off the shock death of their coach, Saleh Tanko Lato as they lost to Crown FC in Ibadan. Crown FC once again showed they are strong at home by winning through a 60th minute penalty converted by Onyekachi Okafor.
Gombe United 1-1 Dolphins
Dolphins cannot seem to find the winning formula. For the fourth consecutive game, they've drawn and this time at Gombe United. Haruna Babalo scored from a rebound with 10 minutes to half time but Ebube Okpokwu equalised in the 60th minute. Both teams share the points and are tied on eight points apiece.
Lobi Stars 1-0 Nembe City
Lobi are yet to concede at home this season and again benefited from a spot kick to win this contest against Nembe City. Lobi Stars goalkeeper, Terkaa Melai, scored from the spot in the 76th minute. It was Melai's third goal this season with all coming from the penalty spot and keeps him in the running as the highest scoring goalkeeper in the history of the league.
Heartland 0-0 El-Kanemi Warriors
Heartland are one of the two teams yet to win a match this season. Nembe City are the other. Heartland have drawn all their four opening home games including Sunday's 0-0 draw with El-Kanemi Warriors.
The Naze Millionaires are now the draw specialists alongside Dolphins with five draws each from seven matches played.
Abia Warriors 1-0 Sunshine Stars
Sunshine Stars succumbed to the connection of two Onyekachis in Abia Warriors squad after holding on for more than an hour. In the 66th minute, Peter Onyekachi converted Nelson Onyekachi's cross to give his team the three points. The win is Abia Warriors' third of the season.
