COD United handed themselves a big chance of vying for promotion to the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) when they beat Crown FC 1-0 last Sunday in Lagos.
The Lagos-based club go joint top of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Group D standings with 13 points alongside Bayelsa United, who lead on superior goals difference.
Daniel Jackson's goal on 29 minutes was enough for COD United to win the points at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos while Bayelsa United had defeated Bridge Boys by 1-0 on the road.
Coach of COD United, Abimbola Samuel is confident his side will battle for a promotion spot till the last day of the season.
"We are capable of fighting for promotion to the Premier League. This team have grown in games and we are taking every match as they come. Our win over Crown FC last weekend was a statement that we are contenders in the Nigeria National League," said Samuel to Naijaligue.blogspot.com.
COD United, formerly coached by current 3SC manager, Festus Allen, will face Bridge Boys in an away game in the Lagos derby at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Saturday.
