Former Nigerian champions, Enyimba lost by a goal to Niger Tornadoes at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna in a Matchday 15 game of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) on Saturday.

Head coach, Austin Eguavoen handed defender Samuel Tswanya a starting place in defence against his former team.

But it was former Lobi Stars striker, Son Hingir, that scored the winning goal for Tornadoes on 68 minutes.

The first half did not produced much though Tornadoes had the best chance when Gwar missed after nodding wide from close range.

Nzube Anazemba (pictured), who was one of the architects of Heartland’s fall in Enugu on Matchday 13, was hardly given time and space by the back line of Tornadoes, as the duo of Promise Onuh and Benedict Atule policed him constantly.

On the dot of half time, Shehu ‘Romario’ Abdullahi’s long range effort skimmed the upright with Enyimba keeper, Paul Godwin well beaten.

In the restart, Enyimba adopted a counter-attacking approach and hoped for an offensive break through wide men, Uche and Chinonso Okonkwo.

Okonkwo tried to score when he dribbled past Chinedu Justice and Atule but shot wide.

On 68 minutes, Hingir nodded in the winner off a rebound to hand Tornadoes all the points.

Eguavoen sent on Onyekachi Okoye in place of Okonkwo as Enyimba suffered a fifth defeat this season.
