Three-time Glo Premier League champions, Dolphins, have announced the capture of Gombe United midfielder, Austin Ekpoma (pictured).
The midfield player was signed during the mid-season transfer window that closed on July 2.
Ekpoma has scored once in this season's Glo Premier League and it was in Gombe United's 1-0 win over ABS in March.
The midfielder was previously linked with moves to Sunshine Stars and Warri Wolves before Dolphins finally hooked him.
Apart securing the service of Ekpoma, The Pride of Rivers also signed five other players.
Nassem Abubakar (from Gombe United), Ambrose Onyeama (from Enugu Rangers), Moses Eneji (from Unicem Rovers), Eze Chidiebere (from Gabros FC) and Omo Johnson (from Warri Wolves) are the others hooked by the Port Harcourt club.
"Dolphins have confirmed the addition of six new players to their fold following activities during the recently closed mid-season transfer window," a statement from the club read on Thursday.
Dolphins head coach, Stanley Eguma, explained that the new signings were brought in to forestall the possibility of losing four of their key players to foreign clubs.
“We had four of our players in Turkey with the Flying Eagles and they stayed away so long.
“We are not even sure how many of them will return to us because they all did well there so going to the market was number one priority for us,” Eguma said.
Dolphins are resigned to cashing in on the duo of Abduljeleel Ajagun and Chidi Osuchukwu after their outings at the African Under-20 Championship and the Fifa Under-20 World Championship this year with Nigeria's Flying Eagles.
Johnson has already made his debut for the club as a second half substitute against Akwa United on Monday.
