Zamfara Utd, Kaduna Utd Chiefs To Face Probe

There are indications that the leadership of Kaduna United and Zamfara United could become the next invitees to be summoned by the four-man panel set up by the Nigeria Premier League.
The four-man probe committee was constituted to investigate allegation of match-fixing against Kaduna United and Zamfara United.
But naijaligue.blogspots.com was informed by one of the members of the probe panel that it is likely that after the drilling of the first batch that includes seven persons, the chairmen of both clubs may be ordered to appear before it (the panel).
It was learnt that the chairman of Akwa United could also be summoned to tender evidence of match-fixing allegation against the two clubs.
But the member, who did not want his name in print, believes that the players summoned to face the panel holds the key to unravelling the truth in the whole event of June 14 when Zamfara United defeated Kaduna United 9-0.
“The players I think can tell us what really happened. I believe that they can tell us if they were given certain instructions by officials of their club before the match or not,” our correspondent was told.
The member of the probe panel said in spite of the fact that Akwa United benefited from a scandalous score-line of 13-0 to gain promotion to the Premier League in 2006, the four-man committee is “ready to carry out an inquest without fear or favour.”
The four-man panel is made up of a board member of the Premier League, Joe Amene, Davidson Owumi, NTA’s Niyi Oyeleke and NPL executive secretary, Alhassan Yakmut.
It is being chaired by Amene, and the panel is expected to submit its findings and recommendation next month.
