Bayelsa Utd Goalie On Trial In South Africa
Bayelsa United first-choice goalkeeper, Bassey Akpan, is reportedly on trials in South Africa with an undisclosed club in that country. A team-mate of the goalkeeper told our correspondent that the former Nigerian Under-17 national team goalkeeper left the shores of the country over a week ago for a two-week trials. Akpan missed the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) champion’s 0-1 loss to El Haddod of Egypt in the CAF Confederation Cup last Friday. Attempts to confirm if the Yenagoa side is in the know of the trip did not materials as the telephones of its chairman and spokesman, Victor Bari Bote Rumson and Ebi Avi, rang without response.
