Bayelsa Utd’s Abutu Itches For Super Four

Bayelsa United attacking midfielder, Jonah Abutu, has declared that he is looking forward to the Super Four that is scheduled to commence next Monday at the Ilorin Township Stadium.
Abutu’s club, which is champion of the Premier League in Nigeria, would come up against known foes in Heartland Football Club, Enyimba and Warri Wolves.
The attacker explained that he is keen to feature in the side and ensure that his club starts the new season in style, as he hopes that the Bayelsa club can re-enact last season’s league-winning feat.
“We are going to play against the same sides that we played against last season. The competition is for the best four teams in the country and as the champions, we cannot afford to mess up. Remember that few days ago, we beat Enyimba in Lokoja to win the Super Cup and that is good for us,” he said.
The player, who joined Bayelsa United from Sharks Football Club at the start of last season, knows that the Super Four could set the tone for the coming season if his side does well.
At the same time, Abutu knows that his club could be wreaked psychologically before the start of the league campaign if it performs dismally when it confronts the three other clubs that are candidates to win the title next season.
“The Super Four is just like a friendly competition, but we will need to be serious because pride will be at stake and at the same time, it could give any side that does well the edge when the season starts finally,” he said.
Abutu believes that the Super Four would also give his team an idea of what to expect during the season from Heartland FC, Enyimba and Warri Wolves.
