Lobi Stars
After consultations with the Benue State government, sole financier of this Premier Division side, businessman, Richard Edewor, has led a consortium to buy 80 per cent of the club. But the contract details of the deal still remain sketchy though it was learnt that the deal would run as a lease for the next five years before Edewor and his group hands over the club again to the Benue State government. However, every structure still remains intact in terms of coaching and playing staff. The representation on the board of the club is expected to be thrashed out in a matter of days. The contract is expected to take effect from September 1.
Mighty Jets
Chairman of the side, Suleman Kwande, has reportedly resigned from his position, and it has been cited that he decided to quit due to having spent so much of his money into the club. The club since being relegated in the year…has found it difficult to win promotion to the top-flight of the professional league in Nigeria. In spite of his resignation, followers of the club have continued to barge in on him with pleas through telephone calls and when they come face-to-face with him in Jos.
Niger Tornadoes
The club has placed nine of its players on transfer ahead of the new season following their non-performance in the immediate past campaign, according to the Minna club management. The nine players declared surplus to requirement at the club are Emma Issah, Kelechi Agwu, Dio Bala, Mayegun Taiwo, Harry Blackson, Afeez Saka, Chijioke Ojioko, Ismaila Ahmed and John Inalaegu.
Warri Wolves
After finishing bottom of the Super Four last weekend, the Warri club has decided to proceed into a closed-door camping for its players this week. It is likely that the club could make a few recruitment before the start of the season to beef up its squad. After FIFA’s axing of the Warri Township Stadium from playing host to the Under-17 World Cup scheduled to hold between October 24 and November 15 this year, the club might use the ground as its base in the coming season.
If this Mr. Edewor is Lobi Stars sole financier, why does he not already own the club?
