Duamlong At Crossroads Over Future

Coach Ben Duamlong, at the moment, cannot determine where he would be working when the new Globacom Premier League season gets underway on September 19.
Duamlong, whose contract with Premier League side, Gombe United, ran out last season, revealed that he is still waiting on the management of the club to hand him a new deal for the coming season.
At the same time, Duamlong has decided to take his own fate into his own hands after he applied for the Kaduna United head coach job and has been short listed as the only Nigerian coach among the last four candidates.
“My contract with Gombe United expired last season and I am still waiting for them to tell me if they will renew it or not. But no one has said anything to me concerning that. I am ready to wait for them. At the same time, Kaduna United have named me as one of the coaches that they are interested in employing. But there is no deal yet in place because they will still have to determine who they want. So it is all about waiting for me,” he said.
The Gombe United handler is ready to listen to the side which comes up first with a proposal for a deal in the coming season.
Attempts to reach the Gombe United coordinator, Mallam Farouk Yarma who also doubles as Special Assistant on Sports to that state’s governor, did not materials, as his mobile telephone rang without response.
But chairman of Kaduna United, Sabo Babayaro, explained that the fate of the four coaches shortlisted including Duamlong would be determined by last Thursday when our correspondent spoke to him earlier this week.
