In a matter of days, Globacom Premier League modest club, Kaduna United, is expected to name Maurice Cooreman, as its new head coach for the 2009/2010 campaign.
Cooreman, who was head coach of Ashante Kotoko earlier this year until he was fired for a sequence of poor results.
But www.naijaligue.blogspot.com understands that the management of Kaduna United has concluded to hire the Belgian to handle its side for the coming season.
In spite of the interviews holding for the five candidates for the job including Cooreman, Kaduna United fancies bringing in the 66-year-old Belgian based on his wealth of experience of having handled six Nigerian clubs before he decided to leave for the Globacom Premier League in Ghana.
The Premier League outfit based in Kaduna believes that Cooreman can bring continental football to the modest club like he did with Ocean Boys in 2006 when he led the Bayelsa State club to the league title.
It is becoming increasingly likely that the Belgian coach would be named before the end of this week barring any hitch, as Kaduna United is keen to hire a new head coach before its opening game of the new season against Wikki Tourists on September 20.
But chairman of he club, Sabo Babayaro, has insisted that Cooreman has not been named as coach of the side since interviews for the other candidates were yet to be concluded.
“I know that we cannot stop all these rumours that we have given Cooreman the job here (at Kaduna United). He is just a shortlisted candidate like the others. There is no deal in place for anyone yet. We will make it public when we have named our coach for the coming season and it will be soon, I promise,” he disclosed.
