Ibenegbu: Heartland Ready For Title Race

Heartland Football Club midfielder, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu, is confident that his side is ready to compete for the title this term in the Globacom Premier League.
Ibenegbu, who pulled the strings in the middle of the pack against Kano Pillars in the first leg of the CAF Champions League semi-final in Owerri, looks forward to his side’s challenge in the league campaign.
Though he knows that it will be a difficult challenge for his side, Ibenegbu is upbeat that Heartland FC is capable of doing better than the past two seasons in which it finished in second place behind Kano Pillars and Bayelsa United.
“We are one of the title contenders,” enthused a confident Ibenegbu to Naijaligue.blogspot.com on Monday. “In the last two seasons, we have been consistent and at the same time, unlucky. This season we hope that we will do better than we have done in the last two seasons when we finished second and allowed others to win the league on the last day.”
But Ibenegbu wants to concentrate on the ongoing CAF Champions League and is already hopeful that his side may have secured its place in the final of Africa’s elite club competition after routing Kano Pillar by 4-0.
The Heartland FC midfielder told Naijaligue.blogspot.com that he is looking forward to the second leg against Kano Pillars this weekend.
