Makurdi-based club, Lobi Stars, is setting a top three finish for itself in the current campaign of the Premier League.
According to a statement made available to Naijaligue.blogspot.com by the club’s media officer, Bestman Joji, the target is meant to repay the gesture of the Benue State government, which owns the side.
The club’s chief executive, Dominic Iorfa, was quoted in the statement thus: “With the quality of players in my team this year I am sure of ending the league among the first three clubs so as to put smiles on the face of our Governor Mr. Gabriel Suswam and the good people of Benue State.”
Iorfa also assured supporters of Lobi Stars of quality football from the players with the aim of achieving results in the 2009/2010 Premier League.
Iorfa who stated this in Makurdi while reacting to the 0-2 loss of Lobi Stars to Kwara United in the Week Eight encounter in Ilorin, noted that “football is a game and in any game you sometimes win, sometimes lose or draw. So the loss in Ilorin should not be see as the end of the league.”
