Ocean Boys gear up for survival battle

Ocean Boys have opened a closed-door camping in Benin City as the end of season games in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) kick off in October.

The 2006 Nigerian champions are in 16th position in the league table with 40 points from 34 games and four points above the relegation line.

Head coach of the Divine Warriors, Samson Unuanel said he and the club management agreed that Benin City will be an appropriate camp site for the team away from Yenagoa in order to avoid “distractions.”

Ocean Boys settled into their Decency hotel camp in Benin city on Thursday, SuperSport.com has been informed.

And Unuanel said the camping exercise is basically to strategise with his players for their last four Premier League matches.

“The purpose of camping in Benin is not because of the Federation Cup third place playoff. But because of our remaining league games. Our plan is to escape relegation so that we will be able to plan well for next season.

“The choice of Benin as our camp location is because we want total focus and commitment from the players. Our base in Yenagoa is okay but we cannot also rule out the possibility of distraction from time to time,” the former Niger Tornadoes coach said.

The Divine Warriors will face Kano Pillars, Sunshine Stars, Zamfara United and Bukola Babes in their last four games of the season.
