Petitions Flood NPL Electoral Committee

The plot has continued to thicken ahead of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) election scheduled to hold next month in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja with petitions flying back and forth.
Naijaligue.blogspot.com spoke to the chairman of the NPL Electoral Committee, Tony Rafua, on the development and he confirmed that there were a number of allegations levelled against some of the candidates vying for offices in the Premier League board.
Rafua, who also doubles as the Manager of Premier League side, Gateway Football Club, assured that his committee would not treat such allegations with a pinch of salt, as it wants to ensure that only credible candidates take part in the election.
But the electoral committee boss did not want to give out names of those petitioners and the affected candidates.
Rafua said the committee would launch an investigation into the petitions before the election before taking any step to address the situation.
“In any election or before any election, there are always petitions of these kinds against some candidates. It does not mean that we will just take the line of the petitioners by taking action against those that the petitions affect. But we will investigate the allegation first and if we find any of those that the allegations are against, then we will be able to take action,” he simply told Naijaligue.blogspot.com.
