Head coach of Enugu Rangers, Alphonsus Dike, has declared that his team is ready to face second place Enyimba in a top-of-the-table clash at the Enyimba Sports Complex in Aba on Sunday.
Dike knows that his side faces a difficult trip to Aba after last weekend’s game with another rival club, Heartland Football Club, was abandoned just 15 minutes after kick off at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu .
“It is going to be a difficult game playing against one of the teams competing for the title this season. But we are ready for them because we know what they are capable of doing. They are one of the best clubs not only in Nigeria but in Africa as well,” he told Naijaligue.blogspot.com.
The Flying Antelopes heads to Aba without a win on that ground and Dike is hoping that his side can be lucky this time and get a result that would still leave it in a place to win a continental ticket.
Rangers is on seventh position and 11 points behind Premier League leader, Kano Pillars, but with a game in hand.
Dike is optimistic that his side would go into the game with the Peoples Elephant with a winning attitude and hopes that his team leaves Aba with a respectable scoreline.
The former Golden Eaglets’ handler is, however, not ruling out an away win for his club in this tie but also acknowledges that it would be a difficult game.
“In football anything is possible. For my team we are going to Aba to play our best and make sure that give our best. In football anything can happen and we have the team that can go there and win provided the officiating is decent and the match officials are not biased,” concluded Dike.
