After compounding the woes of relegated Ranch Bees on Sunday at the Minna Township Stadium, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) general manager, Mutiu Adepoju, has congratulated his side for winning the game by two-nil to remain in the top-flight for next season.
Before the encounter in Minna on Sunday, there was so much anxiety in the camp of the Ibadan side, as it had little or no knowledge of what to expect in the game with an already demoted Ranch Bees.
But Adepoju said he was happy with the response that his team put up in Minna to win by 2 – 0 against the Kaduna-based side, which had been banished by the Premier League board for crowd violence at its ground last month.
“It is good for us to remain in the Premier League for next season even with a game to go. People especially our fans were concerned that we may not be able to remain in the Premier League at the end of the season but we have achieved that now and we will be able to start planning for next season. I think the players and the coaches did their job well,” said Adepoju in an interview with Naijaligue.blogspot.com.
Though the former Nigeria international is happy with the escape, he lamented that the battle for survival was not the original arrangement set out at the start of the season by Shooting Stars.
“At the start of the season, our plan was to fight for a continental ticket but somehow we found ourselves in a difficult position as the season went on and thank the Almighty God that we are still in the Premier League,” said Adepoju, who combined the jobs of general manager, technical director and coach at some point in the season.
