With several controversies bedevilling the Premier League this season, uncertainty has been cast on the date that the curtains would be drawn on this season’s campaign.
Though the league board had picked July 1 as a date for the last matches for the season, the number of abandoned games and postponement of matches appear to have made that date unviable at the moment.
Naijaligue.blogspot.com was informed by a staff of the Premier League secretariat that the Federation Cup organised by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has usurped the adjusted calendar of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL).
The body is now exploring dates in which to place all outstanding games before fixing a final date for Week 38 matches.
The competition department of the NPL is concerned that further extension in the conclusion date of the 2009/2010 season could have an effect on the kick off date for next season.
