Siasia: Why Heartland Failed To Beat Ahly

Head coach of Heartland Football Club, Samson Siasia, has given the reason for his side’s inability to beat six-time African champion, Al Ahly, in a CAF Champions League match last Sunday in Owerri.
Siasia told SuperSport that Heartland’s 1-1 draw at home was due in part to a weak bench.
“Sincerely there is lack of quality in the bench,” explained the former Nigerian Under-20 and Under-23 team coach. “Outside the 11 that played against Al Ahly, the majority of the players on the bench are simply average or slightly above average.”
With Siasia complaining about the lack of quality in the reserves of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) club, SuperSport has decided to give Nigerian viewers two opportunities of watching the game between Heartland and Al Ahly.
The repeat broadcast of the CAF Champions League game has been scheduled to be aired on two channels of the World of Champions.
The game will be televised on July 23 at different Nigerian local time, and will afford viewers to have another chance to see why Siasia feels that Heartland lack a solid bench of substitute players.
Heartland lost in last year’s final to Democratic Republic of Congo’s Tout Puissant Mazembe.
