Emordi tips Nwabili to go places

Enyimba head coach, Okey Emordi, believes that new Super Eagles’ left-back, Valentine Nwabili, has the ability to become a key figure in the Nigerian national team.
In an interview with SuperSport.com, the former African Coach of the Year award winner in 2004, points out the qualities of Nwabili and believes that they will help him battle for the left-back position with established players like Taye Taiwo and Elderson Echiejile.
“He is a very good player. I have been at Enyimba for the last season and I know what Valentine is capable of doing, and I believe that he will give the national team coaches more options in the left-back of that team. Also, the foreign-based players in that position will have a real hard time battling for that position with him because he has good work rate.
“Another thing that could work in his favour while with the national team is that he has a very good left foot that can hit the ball at a dangerous speed. So, I am sure that in a matter of time he will start scoring goals and may be, he could be heading abroad like most players that have played in the local league and national team at the same period,” said the former Enugu Rangers’ gaffer.
However, Emordi is happy that Nwabili will still be part of the Enyimba setup that will begin the defence of their Nigeria Premier League crown when the 2010/2011 season gets underway.
“But as Enyimba coach, it is always good to have such players, who brings that kind of quality to your team though in his absence, we have another capable replacement in Kenneth Anyanwu, who has almost similar style of play like Valentine,” Emordi said.
