Dolphin Football Club midfielder, Daddy Maurice, will be out for a little more than one week after he cupped a hamstring injury in training on Tuesday.
Maurice sustained the injury at the Egbema camping ground of the former Nigerian champions.
After he was checked up by the Dolphin FC medical personnel, the player was told to stay away from competitive football for a week.
Maurice could be ready ahead of his side’s opening day trip to Premier League returnees, Plateau United, on October 24.
“I am happy that the injury is not as bad as I earlier thought,” Maurice told SuperSport.com.
The injury meant that the midfielder missed Dolphin’s pre-season friendly against Ocean Boys and Abia Warriors on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
On Wednesday, Dolphin defeated Ocean Boys one-nil at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa and Ghanaian Owusu Addae accounted for the lone goal.
However, the Port Harcourt club followed up with a 2 – 2 draw against Abia Warriors at their Egbema camp.
Dolphin had to come from two goals down to draw level against Abia Warriors in Thursday’s pre-season friendly.
