Namo to miss Kano Pillars’ opener

Kano Pillars’ striker, Victor Namo, is now a major doubt ahead of his side’s opening game for the new Nigeria Premier League (NPL) that kicks off this Saturday at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.
Former champions, Kano Pillars, confront their northern rivals, Kaduna United, in the first game of the season on October 23.
Namo revealed to SuperSport.com that he has been down with malaria and has missed some training sessions of the team ahead of Kano Pillars’ opening game at Kaduna United.
But the player said he will recover in time and regain fitness for the visit of Premier League newcomers, Bukola Babes, in a Week Two encounter.
Namo, who was a subject of transfer talks between two Sudanese clubs, is confident that his team will start strongly at Kaduna United.
“I have been down for some time with malaria and I have not trained for some time with the team. But I will be ready for the second game and hopefully the coach might consider me for that.
“Also, I am confident that my team will win their first game though it is always a difficult game against Kaduna United. But we can do well there because last season we won against them in their home,” said Namo.
