Two Nigeria Premier League (NPL) sides, Heartland and Sharks, will go head-to-head at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri live on SuperSport Nine from 3.45pm on Sunday.
The World of Champions will broadcast the 13th meeting between these teams since 2003.
The home side head into this match with the advantage of six wins from the past 12 clashes against Sharks’ five and interim head coach, Christian Chukwu, believes they will continue their dominance over their opponents.
“We want to continue with that advantage over our opponents,” said Chukwu. “More importantly, we aim to finish the first round with a win in a convincing manner. Also, this is an opportunity for the players to showcase to the world through television what they can do on the pitch.”
Last season Sharks did the double over Heartland and that feat still remains fresh in the mind of their captain, Odinga Odinga. “Sharks have a team of players that are very, very talented. We showed that last season when we beat them home and away, and I have the confidence that we can repeat same when we play them on Sunday,” the Sharks’ skipper said.
As usual, SuperSport presenter Mozez Praiz will present all the facts and figures before and after the game while Bowie Atama and Ralph Chidozie George will be on commentary duty.
