Newcomers, Bukola Babes, have threatened to pull out of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) following their 0 - 1 loss to Sunshine Stars in a Week 19 game last Sunday.
Team manager of Bukola Babes, Alloy Chukwuemeka, who threatened that the club might consider pulling out of the championship if drastic action is not taken by the Premier League, described the game against Sunshine Stars as "a big shame" for the country's topflight.
Chukwuemeka branded the centre referee, Sani Mohammed, for that game a "kill-joy" and claimed he made a meal of the officiating in the game at the Gateway International Stadium in Ijebu-Ode.
"This is a big shame and a daylight robbery. This referee is a kill-joy and deserves to be sentenced to a death penalty," he said angrily.
Bukola Babes are also claiming that referee Mohammed destroyed the flow of the game by awarding Sunshine Stars two penalties and issued their striker, Abdulkadir Aminu, a red card.
Chukuwemeka accused Sunshine Stars of employing frustrating tactics before the game by refusing players and officials of Bukola Babes to train inside the stadium in Ijebu-Ode last Saturday.
The Bukola Babes' official claimed that players and officials of the newcomers waited for two hours but were not allowed into the mainbowl of the stadium to train.
"An ugly incident occurred on Saturday at the Gateway International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode as our players and officials were locked out of the stadium on the orders of Sunshine Stars' management. Our team arrived at the stadium for training at 3.30pm but were left stranded for over two hours before leaving the venue frustrated," said Chukwuemeka.
Chukwuemeka also claimed that in spite of attempts by NPL officials to ensure that Bukola Babes train at the stadium, the gates were not opened.
"This is highly unfortunate and embarrassing to the league, as such antics by Sunshine Stars run contrary to the rules and brings the game to disrepute," Chukwuemeka said.
Chukwuemeka said he had already made reports to the NPL secretariat urging the league body to monitor matches involving Sunshine Stars.
