Wrap for Matchday 19

Our predictor got SEVEN correct results including THREE exact scores from the games played in Week 19 of the Nigeria Premier League.
A total of 15 goals were scored with just one game failing to produce goals.

Kwara United 2 – 0 Niger Tornadoes
Kadiri Ikhana’s side have put together four wins on the bounce now and ended the first round in fifth with 32 points. But Kwara United’s impressive run in the past four weeks is down to the consistent goal-scoring form of Kabiru Sanusi. The striker got two of the goals in this tie to leave Tornadoes staring down at the drop zone from 16th position.
Our prediction: 2 – 0

Juth FC 2 – 0 Enugu Rangers
Suddenly the southeastern teams have found Jos a difficult hunting ground this term. Enugu Rangers joined their oriental rivals, Enyimba and Heartland, as sides that have dropped points in Jos after Juth defeated them two-nil. Moshood Kasali and Hasan Hussein made sure that Juth climbed from 20th to 19th while Rangers dropped to seventh on the log.
Our prediction: 1 – 1

Dolphins 2 – 1 Enyimba
This was the big game of matchday 19 between title aspirants (Dolphins) and holders (Enyimba). Expectedly the game lived up to its billing, as the champions raced into a first half lead through Chiedozie Johnson and looked like they would end Dolphins’ home invincibility. But Stanley Eguma’s men fought back through goals from Emah Godwin and Captain Ejindu to claim a 10th straight home win. Enyimba are now 10th and 15 points behind leaders, Dolphins.
Our prediction: 1 – 0

Crown FC 2 – 0 Gombe United
Newcomers Crown FC gave themselves some hope of survival before the second round kicks off by convincingly beating Gombe United 2 – 0. Two goals in each half from Femi Ajayi and Taofeeq Akanbi ensured that they grabbed their fifth win of the season. But it leaves them in relegation while Gombe United are just three points above the drop zone.
Our prediction: 1 – 0

Lobi Stars 1 – 0 Plateau United
Plateau United replaced city rivals, Juth, at the foot of the log after a lone goal loss to Lobi Stars in Jalingo on Sunday. It was Esosa Igbinoba’s goal from the penalty spot that condemned Bitrus Bewarang’s men to the bottom after the first round of the Premier League. Lobi Stars climbed into ninth spot on the log with 29 points.
Our prediction: 1 – 0

Sunshine Stars 1 – 0 Bukola Babes
Ibrahim Ajani increased his goal-scoring run in the topflight by netting the winner for Sunshine Stars from the spot on 36 minutes. But the petite player missed a late penalty against 10-man Bukola Babes, as the Stars closed the gap again on leaders Dolphins to four points. The Babes are now eighth and 13 points off the summit of the log.
Our prediction: 2 – 1

Ocean Boys 1 – 0 3SC
3SC’s streak of no wins stretched to four games after a lone goal loss to Ocean Boys at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa on Sunday. Chigozie Christopher scored the only goal of the game inside the second minute of the game and Ocean Boys just held on to finish 13th with 26 points while 3SC are just one spot below on the table.
Our prediction: 2 – 0

Heartland 0 – 0 Sharks
Christian Chukwu’s men could not break down the Blue Angels’ resistance. And captain Chinedu Efugh will rue missing a penalty in the first half. On the other hand, Sharks will thank goalkeeper Okiemute Odah for stopping Efugh’s spot kick, the Port Harcourt side climbed to sixth and remain outside of the top half of the log.
Our prediction: 1 – 0

Zamfara United 1 – 1 Kano Pillars
This game was played behind closed door in Kano and in spite of going ahead on 11 minutes through Victor Namo’s goal, Kano Pillars surrendered two points as Obasesam Enite equalised just 21 minutes to the end. Pillars and Zamfara United occupy 11th and 18th positions respectively.
Our prediction: 0 – 2

Kaduna United 1 – 0 Warri Wolves
Saviour Fedelix was made to play through pain in this game and it paid off, as his ninth minute goal was enough to secure all points for Kaduna United over Warri Wolves. But Maurice Cooreman paid the price with Fedelix now injured ahead of their continental tie this weekend.  Kaduna United are third on the table and Wolves dropped to fourth place.
Our prediction: 1 – 0
