10-man 3SC share spoils at Sharks

3SC surprisingly left Port Harcourt with a point in their Week 28 game in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) against Sharks after a 1 – 1 draw in spite playing with 10 men in a larger part of the second half.

Left-back of 3SC in the game, Festus Iyoma, was given the marching order in the second half of the game for a silly tackle to leave the away side with 10 men to play.

The Oluyole Warriors started the game on the back-foot with Sharks going into the lead just two minutes after the start of the match through Bright Ejike.

At that point, it appeared that the tactics to deploy three men in attack by coach John Obuh against 3SC would pay off as Ejike, Victor Ezeji and Ebitimi Agogo led the Blue Angels’ front line.

Despite taking an early lead, Sharks failed to capitalise on 3SC’s frailties to score more goals though the keeper of the away team, Segun Oluwaniyi, stood between them (Sharks) and a second goal.

But just 10 minutes into the second half, Iyoma was sent off by the centre referee and it meant 3SC had to play the remaining 35 minutes with 10 men and a goal down.

However, Fatai Amoo’s men stunned the home side just four minutes after going a man down through Babatunde Yusuf’s goal.

Sharks responded by laying siege to 3SC’s goal but Oluwaniyi and his defence combined well to stem the pressure and help their side to a big result in Port Harcourt.

For the Blue Angels, it is their third draw in their last three games after sharing points against Bukola Babes and Zamfara United in the past two matchdays of the league.

3SC are now on 35 points from 28 games on the log while Sharks will rue the chance of fifth before next Wednesday’s big clash between Enugu Rangers and Enyimba.

Obuh’s men are perched in sixth place on 44 points from 28 games.
