Crown involved in auto accident

Nigeria Premier League (NPL) newcomers, Crown FC, on Thursday morning had a road accident.

The team were on their way to their Week 29 match against Dolphins when the accident happened along Osogbo-Ilesha Road.

Head coach, Godfrey Esu, confirmed the incident to SuperSport.com in a telephone interview.

"Yes the team was involved in a near fatal accident but thank God the players and officials in that trip are alive," he revealed.

SuperSport.com learnt that the Crown players sustained various degrees of injuries.

The club in a statement disclosed that the team had suffered an accident on their return from Kano a fortnight ago.

It has been learnt 18 players were in the ill-fated trip to Port Harcourt.

The development leaves Saturday's game between Dolphins and Crown in doubt, as players of the latter are now at an undisclosed hospital receiving treatment.

Crown are currently battling relegation in their first season in the topflight.
