Akanbi lay siege to Sharks

Crown FC striker Morenikeji Taofeek Akanbi (pictured) says he is ready to put spanners in the works of Sharks when he faces them on Tuesday in Ilorin on Match Day 36 of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL).

Akanbi has scored seven goals this term in the league for Crown and believes he can help his side escape the drop at the end of the season.

"We started the season so well even better than other promoted teams. But now we are struggling to survive. If we must survive and remain in the Premier League we must beat Sharks and I am ready to make that happen.

"Sharks are a very good team with rich history. And I have come to admire one of their strikers, Victor Ezeji. It will be good to play against him again," Akanbi told SuperSport.com.

The teenage striker scored in the seven-goal thriller which Sharks won 4-3.

Akanbi scored Crown's third goal in that first encounter between both sides this season in Port Harcourt back in February.

The Crown striker has been linked with top European sides, Arsenal and Bayern Munich as well as a host of Danish and Turkish clubs.

Crown currently lie in 19th place in the NPL table with 34 points from 35 games.
