Kano Pillars put Yusuf on alert

Immediate past Super Eagles’ assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf, has been placed on alert by Kano Pillars after it emerged that their current head coach, Ladan Bosso is courted by Wikki Tourists.

SuperSport.com has been informed that the coach (Yusuf) has been approached after reports linked Bosso to Bauchi-based side, Wikki Tourists ahead of the 2011/2012 Nigeria Premier League (NPL) season.

Kano Pillars have opted to put Yusuf on stand-by due to his track record at the club before he left the side in January this year to team up with the Super Eagles under the tenure of Samson Siasia.

The club are also considering the former Lobi Stars’ coach on the grounds that he will settle down within a short time before the league season kicks off on January 7, 2012.

“Salisu Yusuf has been told to get ready in case Ladan Bosso leaves. We believe that Yusuf will come in straight because he already knows the workings at Kano Pillars, as we won’t have to start all over again. He also knows more than 90 percent of the players because he has worked with them.

“We have been hearing reports about Bosso going to Enyimba and more recently Wikki Tourists. So we won’t take chances and that’s why Salisu Yusuf is being put on stand-by should in case Bosso decides to leave,” a top official of the club told SuperSport.com.

Yusuf’s last game in charge of Kano Pillars before joining the Super Eagles’ backroom staff was a 1 – 0 win over Enugu Rangers last season.

He was assistant to Kadiri Ikhana in the 2007/2008 season when Kano Pillars won their first league title.

Kano Pillars will start off their campaign in the NPL next term when they play host to Niger Tornadoes on January 8.
