Kano Pillars, Enyimba game called off

The Matchday Five game in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) between Kano Pillars and Enyimba has been postponed indefinitely.

The match, which is one of the signature games for this weekend, had been scheduled to hold at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano this Saturday.

But owing to recent reports of bombings and gun attacks in the city of Kano, SuperSport.com has learned that the Premier League has decided to call off the game citing insecurity.

Spokesman of Kano Pillars, Idris Malikawa confirmed the development.

"It's unfortunate that the game had to be called off. The situation on ground in Kano is responsible for this postponement because the lives of players, officials and fans are important and we and the league body had to take that into consideration here," he said.

However, nine games for the Week 5 schedule will go ahead as expected in NPL's calendar across the country barring any hitch.
