Nasarawa Utd brace up for NNL campaign


Technical adviser and head coach of Nasarawa United, Bala Nikyu has declared that his squad is ready for this term's Nigeria National League (NNL).

Nasarawa United will kick off this season in the Nigerian second tier when they play host to Sokoto United in Kafanchan this Saturday.

Nikyu told SuperSport.com that he is confident of starting the season on a winning note.

"We want to start this season strongly," began Nikyu while talking to SuperSport.com.

"Our first aim is to get the three points in our first game against Sokoto United. From there we will take each game as they come this season. But I must state that we want to win promotion to the Premier League too. So that's why it is important we start well and stay consistent throughout the season."

On the administrative front, chairman of the club, Isaac Danladi said the squad will continue to receive support from the financier of the side, the Nasarawa State government.

"The governor has pledged to give support to the team. He is sportsman who also loves football and he wants to see Nasarawa United grow and become a big brand in the country and the continent.

"Also the players are rearing to go and they are confident they will do well this season, as we have a target of winning promotion like other clubs in this division," Danladi said.

The Nasarawa United supremo also promised that the club will not be grounded by financial hiccups this term.

Nasarawa United have settled for the Kafanchan Township Stadium as their home ground, the Lafia Township Stadium is under renovation.
