Bereaved Ossai doubtful for Gombe tie

Super Eagles' midfielder, Uche Ossai might be excused from Warri Wolves' Matchday 17 clash with Gombe United owing to the death of his father.

Wolves play hosts to Gombe United on Thursday in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) at the Warri City Stadium.

Ossai was the shining light in Wolves' 0-0 draw in Freetown against FC Kallon in a Caf Confederation Cup game at the weekend and even got a personal telephone call from former Inter Milan and AS Monaco man, Mohamed Kallon.

But he returned home to the sad news of the death of his father, Pa Nwabueze Joseph Ossai.

The Wolves' midfielder reportedly lost his father on Sunday at a private hospital in Warri.

Ossai was informed of his father's death on Monday by family members and the heartbroken midfielder is pained that his dad passed on when his career is on the rise.

Wolves' head coach, Maurice Cooreman is said to be ready to hand the midfielder a break to allow him join his family in mourning the death of his father.

The club management has already sent its condolence to the player and his family following the death of Pa Ossai.
