Nigeria
Premier League (NPL) club, Akwa United have made attempts to lure away two of
Enugu Rangers' best players.
The
Promise Keepers are interested in signing the duo of Haliru Umar and James
Okwuosah when the mid-season transfer window opens this week.
Akwa
United head coach, Solomon Ogbeide and technical director, Charles Bassey were
impressed with the performance of Okwuosah and Umar when Rangers beat their
team 2-1 in Enugu on March 25.
Midfielder
Umar scored the winner against Akwa United while Okwuosah put in a superb
performance in defence on that matchday.
However,
sources close to Rangers informed SuperSport.com that Okwuosah and Umar turned
down offers from Akwa United when they were approached.
The
pair has decided to stay at Rangers who have a realistic chance of either
winning the title or qualifying for one of Caf club competitions in 2013.
