Nigeria's Sunshine Stars made Recreativo do Libolo's first leg three-goal advantage count for nothing as they cruised into the next round of the Caf Champions League in style.
The
Nigerians defeated their Angolan counterparts 3-0 in the return leg of the
Round of 32 on Sunday at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode to progress on the
away goal's rule after losing 1-4 a fortnight ago.
Izu
Azuka opened score for Sunshine Stars with a long range effort before Godfrey
Oboabona got the second when he converted from the spot with 10 minutes to the
break.
The
Angolans did nothing to hurt Sunshine Stars all afternoon and on 76 minutes,
substitute Dele Olorundare nodded away Ibrahim Ajani's cross to make it three
for the home team.
Sunshine
Stars' head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote told SuperSport.com that his team were
always better than Recreativo do Libolo over the two legs.
"We
were always the better side (than Libolo). Even in the first leg when they won
4-1 we played better and we were just unfortunate to concede four goals because
we deserved a better scoreline in Angola.
"But
today we have showed why we are a strong side despite being new in the (Caf)
Champions League," Ogunbote told SuperSport.com.
