The Predictor’s Week 20 preview

The clash between Enyimba and 3SC certainly will catch the attention of Nigeria Premier League (NPL) followers on Matchday 20, which is rescheduled.

The games involving Dolphins, Enugu Rangers and Kano Pillars will get similar attention as the battle for top spot continues. Read the full preview for this matchday:

Wednesday, May 2, 2012
Dolphins v Wikki Tourists (Liberation Stadium)
NPL holders, Dolphins have played hosts to the Tourists five times since 2003 and have dropped points once in June 2005. In this same game in 2010, Dolphins won 2-1 but lost the first meeting this season by same margin in Bauchi.

Dolphins' striker, Ifeanyi Egwim is out of this clash following suspension as Ladan Bosso is expected to set up Wikki defensively. But the league champions will take the points as Wikki have struggled to score goals on the road this term.
Our prediction: 2 – 0

Niger Tornadoes v Warri Wolves (Bako Kontagora Stadium)
In the reverse game Jude Aneke's double condemned Tornadoes to a 2-0 loss. Now Justin Tenger's men know that they have to start winning to climb out of the drop zone after four losses on the bounce.

Last season, Wolves under Paul Aigbogun got a point off Tornadoes in this same fixture. Tornadoes will do enough to edge this game.
Our prediction: 1 – 0

Kaduna United v Kano Pillars (Kaduna Township Stadium)
This northern derby will now be played behind closed doors and it could tip the scales in favour of Kano Pillars, who lost to a late goal at 3SC last weekend. Kaduna United are yet to beat Pillars in four years in the top flight.

Pillars dominated the first game this term winning 3-1 through Gambo Mohammed's brace and Nasiru Ali's goal. It's difficult to see beyond this game ending in a draw.
Our prediction: 0 – 0

Enugu Rangers v Jigawa Golden Stars (Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium)
If Enugu Rangers bungles the chance of taking three points from this game then they will only have themselves to blame as they are favourites. The Golden Stars may have won the first game this season one-nil but they will leave Enugu in defeat and can only do well to avoid being thumped by Rangers.
Our prediction: 2 – 0

Enyimba v 3SC (Enyimba Sports Stadium)
3SC have found it hard to win in Aba in recent years. Their last five visits have all ended in losses. The Oluyole Warriors will be buoyed by the fact that they put one past Enyimba in the first meeting this term and in fashionable style through Mutiu Adegoke's free kick.

In Aba, the Ibadan club will find no joy as Augustine Eguavoen will send out his men that include Henry Uche, Chinonso Okonkwo, Uche Kalu and Nzube Anazemba to put 3SC to the sword.
Our prediction: 2 – 0

ABS FC v Sharks (Ilorin Township Stadium)
ABS have not won in their last three games. They lost the reverse game in Port Harcourt 1-2 and are yet to win a Premier League game against the Blue Angels.

Kabir Sulaiman Dogo's ABS are now wary of the threat that the duo of Bright Ejike and Gomo Onduku are capable of posing with their dribble runs. It will be a tight contest in Ilorin but ABS should hold out for a win.
Our prediction: 2 – 1

Gombe United v Rising Stars (Pantami Stadium)
A reaction is expected from Gombe United in this game after their 0-3 loss at Enugu Rangers over the weekend. Rising Stars have struggled away from home and have scored only twice on the road.

Gombe United may not have won in their last four fixtures, it will be tough for Rising Stars to keep the like of Haruna Babalo, Ahmed Aliyu, Sanusi Sani and Austin Ekpoma in check.
Our prediction: 2 – 0

Sunshine Stars v Akwa United (Dipo Dina Stadium)
It is going to be a battle of two teams that combine flair and physical style. Akwa United head coach, Solomon Ogbeide returns to face his former team after he masterminded their loss in the first game via a Namso Edo free kick.

Sunshine Stars won't have six of their players in this game as they are trapped in Bamako, Mali following a gun battle between rebels and loyalists to the ousted government of that nation. Even without Ukeyima Akombo, Ofem Inah, Alaba Adeniyi, Isaac Hele, Ekundayo Ojo, and goalkeeper Segun Oluwaniyi, Sunshine Stars should triumph.
Our prediction: 1 – 0

Thursday, May 3, 2012
Kwara United v Lobi Stars (Ilorin Township Stadium)
In six trips to Ilorin in the last nine years, Lobi Stars have only avoided defeat just once. They face Kwara United, who have won their last three home games and seek a fourth to help them sit comfortably away from the drop zone.

Lobi Stars have not done enough this season on the road and their bid for a first away win this term will just not happen in Ilorin this time.
Our prediction: 1 – 0

*On Matchday 23 in which six games were played last Saturday and Sunday, The Predictor got FOUR correct scores including ONE exact result.
