Bivan sure of Kaduna's PL status

Midfielder Emma Bivan wants his Kaduna United teammates to put aside their Cup exit and focus on surviving the drop in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL).

Kaduna United were bundled out of the Federation Cup by Premier League rivals, Kano Pillars in the Round of 32 on Sunday but Bivan is now calling for "total focus" in their games in the top flight.

"It is disappointing that we couldn't make to the next round of the Federation Cup. We lost to Kano Pillars and that makes it even more painful to us. The good part of it is that we played very well just that we were unlucky. But this is not the time to dwell on that loss because we need total focus to save ourselves from relegation.

"Kaduna United is a big club in its rights as we have won the Federation Cup before and played on the continent too. But times have changed and we need to do enough now to ensure that we remain in the Premier League at the end of the season," Bivan told SuperSport.com.

Kaduna United currently occupy 18th position in the league standings on 38 points and have two outstanding games.

Their home game for Matchday 33 on Wednesday against Sunshine Stars have been called off as their opponents are to Tunisian giants, Esperance in the Caf Champions League this weekend.
