Ezekiel fit for big game

Bassey Ezekiel (pictured) has passed a late fitness test for the potential title clash between Lobi Stars and Nigeria Premier League (NPL) table-topping Enugu Rangers.

The Lobi Stars' man is expected to start at left-back while stand-in player, Iorwuese Utsaha, while he was injured drop to the bench ahead of this big game.

Ezekiel suffered a cut in head during Lobi's 1-0 win over Sunshine Stars on July 26.

The left-back missed the trip to Port Harcourt where Lobi Stars defeated champions, Dolphins 2-0 to put themselves in contention for the title.

At the weekend, it was initially felt that Ezekiel will miss Wednesday's game in Katsina-Ala by Lobi's backroom staff.

Ezekiel told SuperSport.com: "I'm better now and the coach (Dominic Iorfa) has told me I will be starting. I'm excited and I'm ready to give it my best as we are now close to the title."

He also believes that Wednesday's Matchday 37 game presents Lobi Stars with the chance to leapfrog Rangers in the Premier League standings.

"It's going to be a tough game but this is our chance of going top of the league table," said Ezekiel.

Lobi Stars are currently third in the log on 60 points, one behind Rangers and Kano Pillars in first and second positions respectively.

Iorfa's men could go top should they defeat Rangers by any scoreline and Kano Pillars also drop points at Akwa United in Uyo on Wednesday.
