The Predictor goes for home run

I'm going for a 100 percent home win in Week 12 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). My stance might sound or look strange but once in a while this is expected in Nigeria's top flight.

On this matchday, the traditional clash in Ibadan is my game to watch. In Ilorin, ABS will play hosts to Sharks and the game is live on SuperSport 9 from 4pm local time (5pm CAT) this Wednesday.

There will be one early kick off at the El-Kanemi Stadium in Maiduguri from 3pm local time.

3SC v Heartland (Lekan Salami Stadium)

In their last three visits to Ibadan, Heartland have failed to pick a point. The Naze Millionaires are still in search of a first away win in four years, two months and seven days in the NPFL.

3SC come into this game on the back of a 0-0 draw at Sharks and hold a 100 percent home record this term. And the good news is that Gbolahan Salami is back in their squad for this tie after serving out a one-match suspension. A tough Wednesday it should be in Ibadan for Heartland.

My prediction: 2-0

Kano Pillars v Nembe City (Sani Abacha Stadium)

Champions and table-toppers, Kano Pillars, play hosts to City after tumbling 0-3 at Enyimba on Sunday. All Nembe City have to show for their road trips in their PFL debut season is the opening day win at Heartland.

Definitely Kano Pillars will regroup after the defeat in Aba to claim the full points.

My prediction: 2-0

El-Kanemi Warriors v Sunshine Stars (El-Kanemi Stadium)

Sunshine Stars have not won in their last two PFL games and on the road, they've lost three straight games without scoring. Dele Olorundare, who is their leading scorer, has been off-colour in away games.

This trip to the northeast will be quite demanding for the Akure Gunners. I expect Zachary Baraje to set up his Warriors to attack all through. El-Kanemi have turned the corner to win three successive home games after starting with consecutive draws to Wikki and Bayelsa United.

My prediction: 2-1

ABS v Sharks (Kwara State Stadium; live on SuperSport 9)

Last season Sharks did the double over ABS including winning this contest 3-1 in Ilorin. This season both teams find themselves in the bottom four with identical form guide of no wins in their last two league games.

I fear for the Blue Angels as ABS know how to grind out results before the cameras.

My prediction: 3-1

Lobi Stars v Warri Wolves (Emmanuel Atongo Stadium)

Wolves have made a steady climb out of the bottom four though they tumbled at Gombe United before Lazarus Chukwu's goal got them a win over Dolphins at home in the last matchday. The Warri club have scored just twice in away matches this term and I wonder how they'll cope in Katsina-Ala.

In spite of having a fairly decent squad, Lobi have not been at their best. But I know they have the playing personnel that include Tony Okpotu, Stephen Eze and Nanen Imenger that can take this tie out of the hands of Wolves.

My prediction: 1-0

Dolphins v Kaduna United (Liberation Stadium)

The odds are heavily stacked against Kaduna United - five defeats and 11 goals conceded in five away games. And the Crocodiles have been defeated in their last three trips to Port Harcourt by Dolphins including a 0-3 loss last term in this corresponding fixture.

Even without the duo of Abduljeel Ajagun, Isiaka Olawale and Chidi Osuchukwu, I'm sure Dolphins will be too strong for United. Fred Okwara and Emem Eduok will be important for Dolphins.

My prediction: 2-0

Gombe United v Kwara United (Pantami Stadium)

Kwara United are one of five teams that have won PFL games on the road this season. Gombe United have not beaten Kwara United in a top flight tie in two years, 10 months and 16 days.

Last season in this same game, Segun Alebiosu's brace handed Kwara United a rare away win. But it's almost a different set up at Gombe United under Maurice Cooreman. The Scorpions have won all five home games and have been defensively mean by conceding just once. Cooreman's men will end stop their bogey team this time.

My prediction: 1-0

May 16, 2013

Wikki Tourists v Enyimba (Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium)

Basement boys, Wikki come up against Enyimba, who appear to have got into the groove after going unbeaten in their last three NPFL games. Wikki, on the other hand, have gone three games on the bounce with no wins.

I really do expect a reaction from Wikki after losing 1-2 at Nasarawa United on Monday.

My prediction: 1-0

Akwa United v Enugu Rangers (Uyo Township Stadium)

It is 1,835 days since Rangers last lost a top flight match to Akwa United. On Monday, the Enugu club fluffed away the chance to go top of the standings after their game with Bayelsa United ended one apiece.

For me, Akwa United will live up to their nickname 'The Promise Keepers' by beating the Flying Antelopes.

My prediction: 2-1

Bayelsa United v Nasarawa United (Samson Siasia Stadium)

I think Alphonsus Dike won't be brave enough to go for a two-man attack but he'll go for a 4-5-1 formation against Bayelsa United. But Bayelsa United have got quality in their squad to unlock such tight play. Gomo Onduku, Iyasele Odili, Chigozie Christopher, Peter Ebimobowei and Jonathan Zikiye are among those capable of hurting the Solid Miners.

Nasarawa United have only beaten Bayelsa United once in six head-to-head NPFL matches. I've already written a home win for the hosts in my book.

My prediction: 1-0

*The Predictor came up with an outcome of five correct results including one exact score in Week 11.
