Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Warri Wolves, have "provisionally released" Sunday Mba (pictured) to rivals, Enugu Rangers on Thursday.
But the release of the
Nigerian international comes with a clause embedded in the agreement that
allows Mba make his debut for Rangers in this weekend's Caf Champions League
game at CRD Libolo in Angola.
The clause of the term
will see Warri Wolves retain every financial rights on the player though it remains unclear if this allows the Africa Cup of Nations hero participate in this season's PFL.
“The management of Warri
Wolves Football Club hereby on national interest releases its bona fide player,
Sunday Mba to play for Rangers International Football Club, Enugu. The Nigeria
Football Federation should note that 100 percent financial and federating
rights of the player, Sunday Mba remains with Warri Wolves," a letter from
the club to the football federation giving provisional clearance to the player
stated.
After several weeks of
tussle over the player, Warri Wolves stated that they only allowed Mba to
feature for Rangers this weekend following "plea from well-meaning
Nigerians especially the Nigeria Football Federation."
Last month, Wolves agreed
in principle to sell Super Eagles goalkeeper, Chigozie Agbim to Enugu Rangers
in another transfer battle for N8 million (around $51,000).
Mba has already been linked with interests from a number of European clubs including English side, Arsenal.
