Glo Premier League in numbers

With just four days to the start of the second round in the Glo Premier League, here is a number count after the first round of matches as well as top performers in the top flight.




30 – Matchday Five of this season has recorded the highest number of goals so far ahead of the other matchdays in the first round. Matchdays Three, Seven and 14 come close with 24 goals apiece.


28 – Kano Pillars and Gombe United have won the highest number of points at home. Both teams played 10 home games apiece to amass 28 points.
 

27 – Dolphins have the highest number of cautions (yellow cards), followed by Akwa United and Kwara United on 23 each though the Uyo club hold the highest record of number of expulsions (red cards) – three.
 

26 – Warri Wolves striker, Oghenekaro Etebo, has scored the fastest hat-trick of the four recorded so far. His treble came within 26 minutes.
 

24 – The number of times players have scored two goals in single matches.


21 - Heartland have scored the highest number of goals at home this season. 3SC, Kano Pillars and Warri Wolves come close on 20 goals each.

 
17 – The total number of expulsions (red cards) after the first round.

 
13 – Number of times champions Kano Pillars have occupied the top of the table after the first round of the season. Enugu Rangers and Heartland come distant second with two each. The Kano went on to finish as winners of the first phase of this season.

 
12 – Bayelsa United, Enyimba, Dolphins, Gombe United, Sunshine Stars, Lobi Stars, Kaduna United, 3SC, El-Kanemi Warriors, Akwa United, Wikki Tourists and Sharks are the clubs yet to win a game on the road.

 
11 – Sunshine Stars striker, Dele Olorundare, has scored 11 goals and all of them in home games. He has scored more goals than the whole of Sharks, who have managed just nine goals in 19 matches.


10 – Sharks have occupied the base of the log for this number times this season. Wikki are second with six. The Blue Angels still sit in bottom place after the first round.
 

9 – The number of matches that did not record any caution (yellow card) or expulsion (red card) after Matchday 19.
 

8 – ABS did not score an away goal until Matchday Eight when they played a 2-2 at Akwa United. The drought lasted 638 minutes before Akeem Audu scored.

 
7 – The highest number of unbeaten streak this term. Warri Wolves went unbeaten from Matchday Two to Nine before Gombe United brought them down to earth on Matchday 10. The run lasted for 630 minutes of football.
 

6 – Warri Wolves have drawn more games than any other club this season. The Warri club drew against Heartland, Enugu Rangers, Nasarawa United, Enyimba, Nembe City and Kaduna United. However, Kwara United and Lobi Stars come close with five draws each.


5 – The percentage of away games won this season. Home matches represent 76 percent and 17 stand for draws. There have been 10 away wins so far.


4 – Four players have scored hat-tricks this season. They are Oghenekaro Etebo, Sibi Gwar, Dele Olorundare and Kaduna United centre-back, John Uche.


3 – Out of Olorundare's 11 goals this season, he has scored three of them in the first half. He is definitely a second half man.


2 – The league has averaged 2.01 goals per match after the first round - an improvement to the 1.8 goal(s) per game at this same stage last season.


1 – Kano Pillars Nafiu Ibrahim holds the record of the fastest goal scored this season. He netted the goal in 45 seconds against ABS in Ilorin on March 31.


0 – Enyimba are the only club yet to concede a goal at home this season spanning 10 goals. They have a run of 900 minutes without shipping a goal in Aba.
