Christian
Josiah Omeruo (pictured), brother to Super Eagles and Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo,
makes my Team of the Week for the Glo Premier League Matchday 22.
Josiah,
who recently finished serving at the Akure sports council as a youth corp
member, scored twice in Sunshine Stars' 3-1 win over Kwara United on Sunday.
The
former City Of David (COD) United man was a threat aerially as he nodded in two
quickfire goals past Kwara United goalkeeper Suraj Ayeleso.
I
have picked Akwa United striker, Mfon Udoh, as the other forward to partner
Josiah up front.
Dolphins
goalkeeper, Austin Brown, once again impressed me for the second time in three
matchdays and was one of the reasons 3SC could not score.
Samuel
Tswanya, Reuben Ogbonna, Emmanuel Olowo and Joel Djondang make my back four.
It
was in midfield that I had so many options to choose from as numerous players
impressed.
At
the end I had to settle for Tunde Aremu, Christian Pyagbara and Ugonna
Uzochukwu in central roles while Ndubuisi Ekwuruibe slots in behind the two
strikers.
Joshua
Tekidek of Radio Nigeria, Globe FM in Bauchi described Aremu's performance as "five-star."
"Wikki's
stand-in captain, Tunde Aremu had a five-star game. Twice he came close to
scoring and controlled the midfield with his passes. In fact, it was his
goal-bound effort that hit the hand of the El-Kanemi player in the penalty area
which unfortunately was not awarded as a penalty," said Tekidek.
Nigeria
under-20 player, Pyagbara, was the creative spark in Sharks midfield and capped
his performance with a superb assist for the Tayo Fabiyi's winner against
Kaduna United.
As
for Uzochukwu and Ekwuruibe, both midfield players tormented their opponents,
Nembe City and Sharks respectively, with their sleek play.
And
for my coach of the week it has to be El-Kanemi's Zachary Baraje, who has
earned himself a lot of respect for the work he has done with the Warriors, who
only returned to the Premier League this season.
Though
the game at Wikki Tourists on Sunday was marred by crowd trouble, Baraje's team
had done enough to put themselves in a position to win the full points after
Hassan Hussain's late goal.
