El-Kanemi
Warriors head coach, Zachary Baraje (pictured) and Akwa United striker, Mfon Udoh emerged
as the League Bloggers Awards (LBA) manager and player respectively for the
month of July.
The
announcement was made by the LBA in a statement on Friday afternoon.
"The
duo of Zachary Baraje and Mfon Udoh have been named the Glo Premier League
Manager and Player for July respectively by the League Bloggers Awards
(LBA)," the opening part of the statement read.
Baraje
guided the Warriors to a flawless outing in July, winning all three matches for
the period under review, against Kano Pillars, Nasarawa United and Wikki Tourists,
without conceding.
The
El-Kanemi gaffer beat Ladan Bosso (Bayelsa United), Salisu Yusuf (Enyimba) and
Kabiru Sulaiman Dogo (ABS) to the manager's award.
The
trio of Bosso, Yusuf and Dogo led their teams to unbeaten run in July but fell
two points short of Baraje's El-Kanemi while Stanley Eguma of Dolphins also led
his team through an unbeaten streak that helped them notch up just five points
from the three rounds of matches played last month.
On
the other hand, Udoh had to compete with Austin Brown, Ibrahim Shuaibu, Tayo
Fabiyi, Ezekiel Thompson and Raphael Boumsong for the player's award.
The
Akwa United forward scored five of his team's six goals in July.
Dolphins
goalkeeper, Brown and Shuaibu of Wikki Tourists came closest to fending off
Udoh from winning the LBA Player for July with eye-catching performances.
The
winners will be handed their awards later in August.
The
LBA has been in the forefront of rewarding excellence among the major actors of
the Premier League in Nigeria since 2009.
